Bandits Demand ₦100M Each: Families of Kidnapped Kwara Worshippers Plunged Into Agony

Bandits Demand ₦100M Each: Families of Kidnapped Kwara Worshippers Plunged Into Agony

The atmosphere in Kwara State has been thick with fear and uncertainty as families of abducted worshippers continue to grapple with the shocking ransom demand issued by armed bandits. What began as a routine religious gathering recently turned into a nightmare when attackers stormed a worship centre, whisking away several congregants under the cover of darkness.

According to local sources, the kidnappers have now contacted the victims’ families, demanding an outrageous ₦100 million per person for their release. The figure has not only sparked outrage but also deepened the desperation of relatives who say raising such an amount is nearly impossible, especially within the tight deadline reportedly given by the criminals.

Family members describe the situation as emotionally draining, with many now living in constant anguish. Some have resorted to selling personal property, borrowing money, or seeking assistance from community members in a frantic attempt to secure their loved ones’ freedom. Others, already battling economic hardship, say they feel completely helpless.

Community leaders have condemned the attack, describing it as yet another disturbing sign of the worsening insecurity plaguing parts of the country. They have called on both state and federal authorities to intensify rescue efforts and ensure the victims return home safely.

Security operatives are said to be working discreetly to track the kidnappers’ movements, though details remain unclear due to the sensitive nature of the investigation. Residents, however, argue that bolder and more coordinated actions are urgently needed to prevent further kidnappings and restore public confidence.

As the days drag on, hope and fear coexist in painful balance for the affected families. The brutal ransom demand has once again highlighted the growing audacity of criminal gangs and the vulnerability of ordinary citizens caught in the crossfire of a failing security architecture.

For now, the people of Kwara wait — for news, for intervention, and most importantly, for the safe return of their loved ones.
