Bandits
A group of armed bandits attacked Gyale Village in the Mansur District of Alkaleri Local Government Area, Bauchi State, on Sunday, July 20, 2025, abducting four residents and looting several local shops.
The assailants reportedly gained access to the village through the Yankari Game Reserve before launching the assault, during which five shops were broken into and robbed.
Spokesperson for the Bauchi State Police Command, SP Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the incident, identifying the kidnapped individuals as 32-year-old Tasiu Malam Yahaya, 15-year-old Hakilu Ubayo, 28-year-old Abdul Aziz Suleiman, and 16-year-old Rabiu Ganjua—all believed to be shop owners taken from their business premises.
Following the attack, security forces, including local vigilantes and a special unit of hunters, were swiftly deployed to the scene under the directive of the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Sani Omolori-Aliyu.
“The Commissioner immediately tasked the Divisional Police Officer in Alkaleri, along with other security outfits in the area, to initiate a coordinated patrol and launch a manhunt for the kidnappers,” Wakil said.
He added that the area is now stable, with residents resuming their daily activities, although law enforcement agents continue to search the surrounding forests in a bid to locate the victims and apprehend the criminals.
“The command remains committed to rescuing those abducted and bringing the perpetrators to justice. Our personnel are actively combing the area and following all leads,” Wakil assured.
The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, as efforts to ensure the safety of residents and restore peace continue.
