Bandits Kidnap Catholic Priest in Kaduna
Reverend Father Gabriel Ukeh, the parish priest of Saint Thomas Catholic Church in the Zaman Dabo community of Zango Kataf Local Government Area, Kaduna State, has been kidnapped by bandits. The abduction occurred in the early hours of Sunday.
Reverend Father Emmanuel Kazah, Vicar General of the Kafanchan Catholic Diocese, has issued a statement urging for prayers for Father Ukeh’s swift and safe return.
“We urgently request fervent prayers for his immediate and safe release. We strongly condemn the ongoing kidnappings for ransom that target innocent and defenseless members of our communities. We urge the government to enhance its security measures, particularly as we approach the celebration of Sallah.
While collaborating with security forces to secure his release, we implore everyone to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. We will employ all legitimate means to ensure Father Ukeh’s safe return.
Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, mother of Priests and Religious, we pray that Jesus the crucified hears our prayers and expedites the unconditional release of His priest and all other abducted individuals,” the statement partially reads.
