Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed Expresses Willingness to Collaborate with Peter Obi for Nigeria’s Recovery
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has shown his readiness to join forces with Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, in a bid to deliver effective governance to Nigerians.
During a recent meeting at the state’s Presidential Lodge, where Obi paid him a consultation visit, Governor Mohammed shared his willingness to collaborate. The discussions focused on how both leaders can unite to tackle poverty and criminality, emphasizing that such efforts would rise above political, religious, and ethnic differences.
Governor Mohammed acknowledged the significance of Obi’s role as the leader of the opposition, stating, “We discussed state-specific challenges, and I deeply value his leadership in the opposition. Regardless of differing views, Peter Obi holds a pivotal position in Nigeria’s political landscape. I want to reassure those who may be skeptical of our efforts that I am prepared to work alongside him. Together, we aim to unite and work towards bringing good governance, offering an informed and robust opposition, and ultimately rescuing our nation. This alliance is an important message that will resonate across the country, as it reflects the unified commitment of fellow governors in the PDP. Our collaboration transcends party, region, and religion, marking a journey of national significance.”
For his part, Peter Obi explained that his visit to Governor Mohammed was part of ongoing discussions about Nigeria’s future. As the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum, Mohammed plays a crucial role in the country’s political landscape.
Obi remarked, “Today’s meeting was part of a series of consultations about the country’s future. The North is key to addressing the issues we face, and I emphasized to the governor that poverty in Nigeria is a major concern. Without addressing poverty, we cannot tackle criminality effectively.”
Obi further stressed the need for substantial investment in critical sectors to lift people out of poverty, thereby reducing the levels of crime in the society.
The two leaders engaged in a closed-door conversation for over three hours before addressing the press.
