Benue Killings Didn’t Start Today — I Saw It Coming Even Before Taking Office” – Rep. Terseer Ugbor

The Member representing Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency in Benue State, Hon. Terseer Ugbor, has spoken out on the long-running wave of violence in the state, saying the crisis predates his swearing-in.
Speaking during an interview on Politics Today, Ugbor revealed that the first attack in his local government area occurred while he was still a member-elect.
“These killings didn’t start yesterday,” he said. “In fact, I witnessed the first attack in my constituency even before my inauguration. We saw this coming.”
Ugbor’s comments highlight the deep-rooted and persistent nature of insecurity in Benue, where countless communities have suffered from repeated invasions, mostly by suspected armed herders. The lawmaker’s account echoes the frustration of many in the state, who feel abandoned in the face of ongoing violence.
