Bill Gates Reflects on Divorce from Melinda: ‘It’s My Biggest Regret’

Bill Gates has opened up about his divorce from Melinda Gates, acknowledging that it remains the one decision he regrets the most in his life. In a recent interview with the Times of London, published on Saturday, the Microsoft co-founder, now 69, stated that despite being in a better place emotionally, the end of his 27-year marriage still weighs heavily on him.
“While I’m happier now,” Gates shared, “the end of my marriage is the mistake I regret the most.” Despite facing other challenges throughout his life, he
the divorce at the top of his list of regrets. “There are other things, but none are as significant,” he added, describing the dissolution of his marriage as a painful experience that affected both him and Melinda for at least two years.
The couple, who have since moved on to other relationships, have managed to maintain a cordial connection for the sake of their family. “Melinda and I still see each other,” Gates noted. “We have three children and two grandchildren, so there are family gatherings. The kids are doing well and have strong values.”
Bill and Melinda, who married in 1994, share three children—Jennifer, 28, Rory, 25, and Phoebe, 22. They publicly announced their separation in May 2021, although they had been living apart for a year prior to the official statement.
