Popular crossdresser and social media influencer, Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, widely known as Bobrisky, has made a heartfelt appeal to Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy, urging him to show mercy and help secure the release of fellow entertainer Darlington Okoye, better known as Speed Darlington, from prison.
Bobrisky shared his plea through a series of Instagram story posts on Sunday, expressing his concern over Speed Darlington’s situation. In his posts, Bobrisky emphasized that the musician had already endured significant punishment after spending 45 days in detention and deserved a second chance.
He wrote, “I’ve decided to focus on my life this year and stay away from celebrity drama, but my compassionate side won’t let me ignore this. Burna Boy, please show mercy on Speed. Being in prison is a harsh experience, and I doubt he can afford the luxury of a VIP section. While none of those I’ve supported publicly came to my aid when I needed it, I can’t bear to see someone suffering. I’m asking for mercy. Forty-five days in prison is enough.”
Bobrisky also advised fans to hold their favorite celebrities accountable, pointing out the contradiction in their support for Speed Darlington’s controversial actions in the past. “You all cheered him on when he crossed lines, but now none of you are standing by him in his time of need.”
Speed Darlington was arrested in October 2024 in Lagos on charges of defamation and cyberstalking Burna Boy. His case later moved to Abuja, where he was detained by the IGP’s Intelligence Response Team. After a brief period of hope for release, he was re-arrested in November while performing in Owerri, Imo State.
