Boko Haram Launches Fresh Attacks, Killing Five and Kidnapping Fifteen Farmers in Borno

In a tragic incident, Boko Haram terrorists have reportedly killed five farmers and kidnapped 15 others in the Ngoshe Community of Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State. This attack occurred just hours after President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babagana Zulum assured farmers of enhanced security during their Independence Day speeches.

Sources indicate that the assault took place while the farmers were working in their fields. Among the casualties was Jubril Zarana, a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), who died while defending the community.

A local source relayed, “We regret to report that around 15 individuals, including women, children, and the elderly, were taken by the terrorists in Ngoshe. The attack resulted in the deaths of Jubril Dada Zarana and five other civilians as the assailants ambushed the farmers.”

Despite the efforts of security forces, including the Army and CJTF, they struggled to repel the attackers. After returning to their base, the terrorists executed five of the captives: Isa Musa Moh’d Diyara, Doglas, Salawuddin Suleman Dauda Lawan, Maryam Gwambran, and Baba Amos.

Three female captives were later released, but several individuals, including Anna Andrew Gadzawaga, Hauwa Braga, and two young boys, remain unaccounted for. Others still missing include Babawo Kanin Shagari and Ummi Trabos.

A community message urged, “Let us keep these individuals in our prayers during this trying time. On this Independence Day, which should celebrate freedom and progress, our people are facing despair and fear.”

Despite severe challenges and a lack of essential supplies, the community continues to live in their homeland, driven by their love for the country. Unfortunately, they receive no assistance from the government or NGOs, and the limited farming they undertake comes with significant risks.
