On Sunday, March 16, 2025, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Governor of Benue State, took part in a thanksgiving service at ECWA Church Wuse II with Terlumun Ikya, in honor of the arrival of their baby boy after a long wait of sixteen and a half years.
The infant, named Aondovandefan (God Already Knows), was dedicated at the altar, symbolizing his complete devotion to God and invoking divine guidance and blessings.
In his address during the service, Governor Alia expressed heartfelt gratitude for the blessing granted to the Ikya family after years of hopeful longing. He recognized the church’s dedicated prayers for both the family and Nigerian leaders on national and local fronts, sharing his joy in joining them for worship.
He highlighted the importance of the occasion for the family, reflecting on the extensive journey they endured to welcome a child. “This day is truly extraordinary for our family. Waiting for sixteen and a half years is no small feat. There are invaluable lessons to be learned from their journey. God’s timing is impeccable, and this is undoubtedly the right time for them,” he remarked.
Previously, Terlumun Ikya, father of the child and a former gubernatorial candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC), expressed his overwhelming joy at the birth of his son after many years of marriage. He conveyed his openness to receiving advice from experienced parents to effectively nurture and raise his child in a righteous and godly way.
