Breaking News: Violence Erupts in Abako, Benue State as Secondary School Students Attack Soldiers Following Soldiers Destroying School

On Today’s, Friday, February 7th, 2025, tensions escalated at Government Day Secondary School in Abako, Kastina Ala, Benue State, leading to violent confrontations between students and military personnel stationed at a nearby checkpoint.

Our Reporter Reported That the incident began when a student was reprimanded by the school head girl for wearing long earrings, prompting the prefect to forcibly remove them. Distressed by the action, the student proceeded to the nearby military checkpoint to lodge a complaint. In response, soldiers entered the school grounds, arrested the prefect, and reportedly set parts of the school on fire.

This act of aggression triggered a violent retaliation from the students, who armed themselves with sticks and pursued the soldiers, further intensifying the unrest. The situation has raised concerns about the escalating tensions between civilians and the military in the region, highlighting the need for dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution.
