Breaking: State Governors Convene in Abuja to Discuss Excess Crude Account and Others Key National Issues
Governors from across Nigeria, under the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), are currently holding a meeting in Abuja to address critical national matters. The session, which is the 11th in-person meeting of the Forum this year, is focused on several key topics, including the reconciliation of the Excess Crude Account (ECA), petroleum profit taxes (PPT), and royalties.
The meeting, led by NGF Chairman and Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, began at 8:30 PM. Governors are engaging in discussions aimed at resolving pressing fiscal and developmental challenges. Among the major items on the agenda are updates on stamp duty remittances, Deloitte’s audit findings, and ongoing debt arrangements related to the ECA and other federal revenue streams.
Additionally, the governors will receive a briefing on Nigeria’s upcoming participation in the 2024 Africa Investment Forum (AIF) Market Days in Morocco, an event designed to strengthen Nigeria’s investment ties across Africa.
The session will also feature addresses from the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu, on the ongoing constitutional amendments being considered by the National Assembly, and from Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, who will share the government’s plans for the education sector.
