Bullet Strikes Southwest Airlines Plane Before Takeoff at Dallas Airport

A Southwest Airlines flight was struck by a bullet just before takeoff at Dallas Love Field airport on Friday evening, prompting an immediate evacuation of all passengers and crew. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Dallas police are currently investigating the incident.

Flight 2494, which was scheduled to depart for Indianapolis, was preparing for takeoff when the bullet hit the right side of the aircraft, below the flight deck. The plane was quickly returned to the gate, and passengers were safely deplaned.

A Southwest Airlines spokesperson confirmed that everyone onboard was unharmed, and the situation was handled safely. The shooting is now under investigation by local law enforcement.

This incident follows a similar event in Haiti, where multiple aircraft were targeted by gunfire near Port-au-Prince airport, prompting the Federal Aviation Administration to impose a 30-day operational restriction on U.S. airlines flying to the country. Recently, a Spirit Airlines flight was also hit by gunfire during its approach to Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Haiti, with a flight attendant sustaining a minor injury.
