Celine Dion Criticizes Donald Trump for Using ‘Titanic’ Song at Rally

Celine Dion has publicly criticized former President Donald Trump for playing her iconic song, “My Heart Will Go On,” during a recent election rally. The song, famously featured in the 1997 film *Titanic*, was used by Trump at a rally in Montana on Friday, accompanied by a video of Dion performing.
In response, Dion’s management team and Sony Music Entertainment Canada issued a statement on X, denouncing the unauthorized use of the song and video. The statement emphasized, “Celine Dion does not endorse this or any similar use… And really, THAT song?”
The use of Dion’s song at the rally has sparked social media backlash, with some drawing parallels between Trump’s campaign and the sinking ship depicted in the film.
Trump’s rally occurred amid a shifting political landscape, as Vice President Kamala Harris has gained momentum in the presidential race following President Joe Biden’s exit from the campaign. Harris has since selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate.
“My Heart Will Go On,” released on Dion’s album *Let’s Talk About Love* and the *Titanic* soundtrack, became a massive hit, selling 18 million copies worldwide and earning Dion an Oscar, a Golden Globe, and multiple Grammys.
Dion, who has recently faced health challenges related to an autoimmune disorder, had to cancel her 2023 and 2024 tour dates but recently made a special appearance at the Paris Olympics, performing from the Eiffel Tower.
