Christ Mercyland Denies False Reports, Confirms NAFDAC Probe Into Miracle Products

Christ Mercyland Deliverance Ministry, led by Senior Prophet Jeremiah Omoto, has issued a strong denial against recent reports by Punch News and Vanguard News, labeling them as false.

According to the weekend reports, Punch News alleged that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) uncovered a scheme involving counterfeit miracle water and soap being sold by the ministry. It was also claimed that NAFDAC had issued a warning about the misuse of its name by the church. The ministry has expressed deep concern over these claims.

Adeyeye, representing the church, clarified that NAFDAC had indeed contacted its Delta State Coordinator and the Director of Post Marketing Surveillance to check records related to the ministry’s products. On August 14, 2024, NAFDAC representatives visited the ministry to inquire about its spiritual items. The church requested proper identification and a search warrant but did not receive these documents. Access was denied for security reasons and to prevent identity theft.

The ministry disputes the accuracy of the reports by Punch and Vanguard, asserting that they misrepresent its dealings with NAFDAC. The church insists it is a law-abiding Christian organization that fully complies with relevant regulations, including those of NAFDAC. It denies any reluctance to cooperate with the investigation into alleged counterfeit products. On September 2, 2024, the church’s legal team and Global Table Water attended a meeting at NAFDAC’s Asaba office, where they cooperated with the Deputy Director of the Investigation & Enforcement Directorate. They were asked to return for further discussions on September 10, 2024.

The church also emphasized its adherence to constitutional rights under Sections 38 and 39 of the Nigerian Constitution, which protect religious freedom. It has followed its faith and biblical teachings, incorporating specific spiritual items into its religious practices.

In response to the reports, the ministry pointed out that the only current legal petition against it is from Mr. Martins Vincent Otse (alias Verydarkblackman), for which the church has initiated legal action in the FCT High Court in Abuja. Additionally, a letter from NAFDAC dated August 27, 2024, invited the church’s spiritual leader to discuss its miracle and spiritual items at the Asaba office.

The church has formally communicated with NAFDAC Headquarters in Abuja, addressing the short notice of the meeting and alleging that the complainant forged receipts. The church is awaiting feedback from NAFDAC on these matters.

The ministry is also involved in a police investigation concerning the forged receipts allegedly used by the complainant, which differ from the church’s official records.

The church urges the public to disregard the unfounded reports by Punch and Vanguard and notes that the NAFDAC investigation is still ongoing.
