Coalition Applauds Tinubu, Tantita for Landmark Victory Against Oil Theft

A coalition of civil society groups and stakeholders in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the leadership of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) for what it described as a historic breakthrough in the fight against oil theft.
In a statement issued over the weekend, the coalition noted that the collaboration between the Federal Government and Tantita has resulted in a drastic reduction in crude oil theft, a menace that has crippled the nation’s economy for decades.
According to the group, recent reports from industry regulators and international oil monitoring bodies confirm that Nigeria’s oil production has significantly improved, thanks to a sharp decline in illegal bunkering and pipeline vandalism. This, they stressed, is a landmark achievement that restores confidence in Nigeria’s oil industry and strengthens the country’s revenue base.
> “For too long, crude oil theft robbed Nigeria of billions of dollars in revenue, deepened unemployment, and frustrated national development. The measures put in place by the Tinubu administration, alongside the proactive strategies of Tantita Security Services, have brought about a remarkable turnaround,” the coalition stated.
The group further urged the Federal Government to sustain its partnership with Tantita and other stakeholders, insisting that consistent support and investment in security architecture will help consolidate the gains already achieved.
They also called on communities in the Niger Delta to continue cooperating with security operatives to ensure that the era of large-scale oil theft remains permanently behind Nigeria.
The coalition described the development as a victory for ordinary Nigerians, noting that improved oil revenues will provide government with more resources to address critical sectors such as education, healthcare, and infrastructure.
With this milestone, Nigeria appears to be regaining its rightful place in the global oil market, the statement concluded, urging all stakeholders to resist any attempt to reverse t
he progress made.
