The Federal High Court in Abakaliki has upheld the suspension of Ali Odefa as the National Vice Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Odefa was suspended on October 4, 2024, by the party’s Executive Committee in his Oguduokwor Ward, Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, over allegations of engaging in activities detrimental to the party’s interests.
Odefa contested the suspension, arguing that the action was invalid, as the members responsible for it were not duly recognized as part of the ward’s executive committee. However, Herbert Ovuta, a PDP member, approached the court seeking to affirm the suspension and prevent Odefa from continuing to hold his position.
In a ruling on the case (suit number FHC/AI/CS/182/2024), Justice Hilary Oshomah declared the suspension valid and legally binding. The court also directed Odefa to refrain from representing himself as the National Vice Chairman of the PDP.
