Declaration Must Match Action” — Fadojoe Hails Tinubu, Urges Strong Response to Insecurity

A former Labour Party Presidential Aspirant, Faduri Oluwadare Joseph popularly called Fadojoe, has given kudos to president Bola Ahmed Tinubu for declaring bandits, violent cults, armed groups as terrorists. He however calls on the president to ensure that the Nigerian Armed Forces take appropriate, decisive and corresponding actions to end insecurity in Nigeria.
This was obtained in a statement made available to pressmen on Saturday, by Rev Emmanuel Olorunmagba, National Director, Media and Publicity of Rescue Movement For New Nigeria on behalf of the leader of Rescue Movement For New Nigeria aka Rescue The Vulnerable Initiative; the statement reads in part:
“Designating bandits as terrorists as the right step in the right direction, but such designation without upholding capital punishment for acts of terrorism including the sponsors, will end up like mere usual rhetorics. Thus, it will still continue to portray complicity, hidden under mere declaration, only to attempt to please the president of America, Donald J. Trump.
“Whereas the aim should be to give it all it takes to end the menace of insecurity in the country; as part of the constitutional responsibilities of the government to ensure the protection of the lives and property of law abiding citizens”.
Adding that, “earmarking N5.41 trillion, out of the N58.1 trillion proposed 2026 budget, for security and defence, looks good; but the pertinent question is that this amount being the biggest sectoral allocation in the budget, will it be judiciously utilized for the purpose it’s budgeted for; or will it finds it’s way to individual accounts? And such misappropriation will obviously lead to escalating insecurity, as the beneficiaries may not want insecurity to end so they can continue to smile to banks, while innocent citizens are paying dearly with their precious lives?
“Therefore while giving kudos to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for declaring bandits, violent cults and other armed groups as terrorists, it’s only when Nigerians see the appropriate military actions backing up such declaration before we can really take such declaration seriously.
“On the other hand, I call on the president and all concerned authority to ensure strict compliance, limiting the designation to ‘any armed group or gun-wielding non-state actors operating outside state authority, being bandits, militias, armed gangs, armed robbers, violent cults, forest-based armed groups, and foreign-linked mercenaries’ as declared by the president and not turn such declaration to weapon of persecution against, the opposition especially perceived political opponents and critics. In democracy opposition as well as constructive criticism set the government at all levels on their toes,” he concluded.
