Ede Killing: APC Guber Campaign Council Visits Ede, Commiserates With Family

.. Accuses Adeleke, Accord Party of Compromise

The Governorship Campaign Council of the All Progressives Congress APC in the forthcoming 2026 gubernatorial election in Osun has fingered the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke and his party, the Accord Party, of masterminding the “killings and maiming” of APC members in the state.

The APC also alleged Governor Adeleke of political compromise over the recent attacks on the party leading to the death of many loyalists of APC in the state.

The Chairman, Media Committee of the APC Governorship Campaign Council, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye in a statement signed and made available to newsmen quoted the APC deputy governorship candidate Engr Benjamin Kayode Adereti to have accused Governor Adeleke of incessant attacks on the leaders and members of APC.

According to the statement, Engr Adereti alongside other members of the APC Governorship Campaign Council including former Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Timothy Owoeye, former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke, Ede-North Local Government Chairman, Hon. Adeyemi Elliot Sesan, Osun West APC Youth Leader, Hon. Imran Mojeed Adekunle, former House of Assembly Aspirant, Hon. Ajani Gafar, LCDA Ede-North Chairman, Hon. Nureni Lawal, Hon. Tijani Monsur Oladimeji, among other party stalwarts had participated in the burial of a APC loyalist, Mr Abdul-Rasak Abdul-Hammed who lost his life at the inauguration of the APC Unit Canvassers in Ede on Wednesday.

It was reported that late Abdul-Hammed was killed by a reckless driver who rammed into the crowd of the APC members at the campaign ground of the party in Ede.

Speaking at the cemetery in Ede, the APC deputy governorship candidate, Engr Adereti frowned at the unchecked impunity and crises allegedly fomented by the ruling party calling on the security operatives to beam their searchlight into the cause of the death of the party loyalist.

“It is a tough call for us because we lost a dear brother. It is an unfortunate incident and we are yet to unravel the misery behind this incident because we are touched. The way the incident happened, a truck ramming into our members in Ede where we were campaigning for the gubernatorial election. I want to call on the security forces in Osun state and Nigeria to do a thorough investigation into the immediate and remote cause of this incident and if it is a direct ploy from the incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke and the Accord Party to stop us from forging ahead with our campaign, I can assure them that we are unstoppable and they will get every reward for all their misdeeds. God will judge them and whoever is behind this. Yesterday, our branded vehicles were shot at between Ede and Owode-Ede yesterday night, Again, we were in Ede for campaign, and they are claiming different stories. A truck on a public road, ramming into people who were peacefully working and campaigning for their party.

“I commiserate with the family of the deceased, Abdul-Rasak Abdul-Hammed, for this unfortunate incident. May God console the mother and family. We pray that the blood of the deceased will haunt anyone that is behind this incident. May his soul rest in eternal peace”, Adereti was quoted to have said.

The former Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Commissioner, Prince Adebayo Adeleke described the incident as “unfortunate and great loss.

“It is a very sad moment for every member of the family. We commiserate with the family of the deceased and our Kabieesi, the Timi of Ede over the unfortunate incident. This is very unbecoming. Several times when our people put on the fez caps, they beat them up as if Ede is not part of Nigeria. Just yesterday, from the convoy of the incoming Governor, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, one of our branded vehicles was attacked, sprayed with bullets. It is not as if we have not been getting different information that they have a different plan to attack our people, we never knew this is where they would come from, almost killing seven of our members within a month. One is dead while others were seriously injured. We will not, and we do not believe this is ordinary. We believed is a planned attack on our members. According to an eyewitness, when the incident happened, the driver came out and ran, and they saw something in his hands that could tell that, obviously this is the work of the opposition.

“We want the security agencies to do a thorough investigation into this. This is killing the opposition in a different forms. This is sad. If you remember, many of our members have been killed in the past and they are still killing them. Remi Abass was killed in a broad daylight. Over 30 of our members were killed in the last election. In Osogbo, they killed about six in a broad daylight. PD/Accord is known for violence. To me, they have taken another dimension in killing and maiming our members. God will not forgive whoever is behind this incident”, Ex-commissioner was quoted to have said.

Also, the Media Committee Chairman, Osun APC 2026: Governorship Campaign Council, Engr. Oluremi Omowaiye challenged Adeleke to tell the whole world the reason people under his government and party – Accord Party have been unleashing mayhem and launching attacks on members of the opposition party in the state.

“Governor Adeleke should tell the whole world what happened. It is obvious that this incident has the hands of Governor Adeleke. These people were having their rally on their own but the truck rammed on them. Just last week, three members of APC were killed in Ilesa. So, we cannot continue like this. We are calling on Mr President that Governor Adeleke has started again killing our people like they did in 2022 and 2023 elections.

“Yesterday, one of our vehicles was attacked. They raided the vehicle, shot at it and the person inside. It is unfortunate that Governor Adeleke has come with this again. We are not going to continue like this. What we want is one man, one vote. It is unfortunate that Governor Adeleke will go to TV station and be accusing the opposition. We wonder why Governor Adeleke is instigating violence. We call on the security operatives to come to our aid. Perhaps this incident in Ede is another strategy to continue to attack us”, Omowaiye was quoted to have said.
