Edo 2024: Obidients Group Challenges Peter Obi’s LP Candidate, Shift Support to PDP’s Ighodalo; See Reasons

A political group called Obidients United for Equity, Justice, and Fairness has criticized Peter Obi for choosing Olumide Akpata as the Labour Party’s candidate, claiming it goes against fair democratic practices.

In a statement, the group’s leader, Blessing Edobor, expressed concerns that Akpata is related to Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The group argued that politics should focus on values like competence, fairness, and inclusiveness. They pointed out that Obi’s past campaign balanced various interests but now seems to favor personal connections over these principles.

They noted that Obi had received support from several regional organizations because of his calls for justice and fairness. They questioned why he is ignoring the demands for fairness from the people of Edo Central.

Edobor accused Obi of overlooking issues during the Labour Party primaries that benefited Akpata. She stated that Obi’s ambitions now overshadow his commitment to fairness.

The group firmly believes that the next governor should come from Edo Central and is supporting Asue Ighodalo, whom they consider the best candidate for the job. They urged supporters to vote for Ighodalo and Osarodion Ogie on September 21, 2024.
