Edo: Shaibu Mourns Devastating Fire in Jattu Market, Urges Support for Victims
Former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, has expressed deep sorrow following the destructive fire that struck the Jattu Community Market in Etsako West Local Government Area on Tuesday.
In a poignant message on his official Facebook page, Shaibu extended his condolences to the traders and residents affected by the tragic fire, which has left the community facing significant losses.
The fire occurred just days after another tragedy—a deadly windstorm that claimed lives and uprooted long-standing trees in the Jattu-Uzairue Kingdom. These calamities have plunged the community into mourning and hardship.
Shaibu, a native of Jattu, described the market as not only a commercial center but also a vital cultural and economic symbol for the community. He acknowledged the deep pain felt by the traders who lost their livelihoods and properties, while praising their resilience in the face of repeated adversity.
“As one of your own, I share in your sorrow and am committed to standing by you during this challenging time,” Shaibu wrote. “This is a loss not just for the affected traders, but for the entire Jattu-Uzairue Kingdom.”
The former Deputy Governor also appealed to individuals, organizations, and leaders within and outside the community to come together and provide aid to the victims, urging support for the rebuilding efforts.
He emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity in restoring hope and rebuilding what was lost. “Together, we will overcome this tragedy and emerge even stronger,” he declared.
Shaibu concluded with a prayer for strength and comfort for the grieving Jattu community, reiterating his commitment to supporting the victims and aiding in the restoration of the market.
