EFCC Grils Two Kogi Government Officials Over Alleged ₦80 Billion Fraud

Two senior Kogi State Government officials are under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja.
Kingsley Fanwo, the state’s Commissioner for Information, reported that the officials voluntarily came forward to the EFCC, despite not receiving a formal summons from the commission.
Fanwo highlighted that this proactive approach underscores the Kogi State Government’s commitment to transparency. “Even without an official invitation, they decided to present themselves at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja,” Fanwo noted.
While specific details of the allegations have not been revealed, Fanwo suggested they may be tied to ongoing inquiries involving both current and past officials.
By voluntarily engaging with the EFCC, the officials aim to demonstrate that the Kogi State Government is open to scrutiny and committed to transparency. Fanwo expressed optimism that the EFCC will conduct its investigation with due diligence, reflecting the state government’s commitment to anti-corruption measures.
“Our administration is always ready to collaborate with anti-corruption bodies to affirm our dedication to transparency and retain the confidence of our development partners, who have repeatedly acknowledged our commitment to transparency, accountability, and integrity,” Fanwo added.
The Kogi State Government’s readiness to be examined highlights its dedication to maintaining high standards of integrity and accountability.
