Ekiti APC Pledges Sweeping Victory, Targets 90% of Votes in June Governorship Election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has set ambitious targets ahead of the June 20 governorship election in Ekiti State, with Senate Leader Senator Opeyemi Bamidele declaring that the party aims to secure at least 90 percent of the total votes cast.
The announcement came during the inauguration of the 57-member Ekiti APC Governorship Election Campaign Council in Ado-Ekiti on Monday. Senator Bamidele, who chairs the council, emphasized that its members were carefully chosen to ensure a strong, coordinated effort for the victory of APC and its candidate, Governor Biodun Oyebanji.
“The members of this council bring the right experience and commitment to mobilize voters across the state. Our mission is to consolidate the achievements of the Oyebanji administration and secure an unprecedentedly high number of votes,” Bamidele stated.
He highlighted the impact of Governor Oyebanji’s leadership on the campaign, noting that his people-centered policies and transformative initiatives have created a favorable environment for the council’s work. According to the Senate Leader, Ekiti State has experienced political cohesion, social stability, and inclusive governance under Oyebanji, which provides a strong foundation for the party’s campaign.
Senator Bamidele also revealed that the APC has designed a broader mobilization strategy, aiming to deliver at least 10 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the Southwest during the 2027 general elections, with the Ekiti governorship contest serving as a test of the party’s organizational strength.
Governor Oyebanji, in his remarks, expressed gratitude for the inclusiveness of the campaign council and assured that his campaign would remain focused on issues, conducted with maturity, and free of violence. He cautioned against complacency despite favorable forecasts, stressing that the goal is to secure over 500,000 votes and demonstrate the electorate’s confidence in APC governance.
“While we are confident, we must approach this election as if we are the underdog. Every effort counts, and we must engage the electorate seriously to achieve our objectives,” the Governor said.
State Chairman of the APC, Barr. Sola Elesin, urged all stakeholders, including political appointees and officeholders, to actively support the council and engage directly with voters, emphasizing that grassroots interaction is key to the party’s success.
The inauguration was attended by top state officials, including Deputy Governor Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, members of the state executive council, local government chairmen, and representatives of youth and student organizations.
