El-Rufai Did Better Than Wike as FCT Minister — Senator Ireti Kingibe

Senator Ireti Kingibe has compared past and present leadership in the FCT and concluded that Nasir El-Rufai performed better than Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

While speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm on Tuesday, Kingibe pointed out that although Wike has earned public praise for his work on roads and infrastructure in Abuja, many of those projects don’t really improve the day-to-day life of ordinary people.

She stressed that good roads alone don’t make a minister successful. According to her, El-Rufai, who served under President Olusegun Obasanjo, not only worked on roads but also paid attention to the problems that residents were facing.

“If you ask most people in the FCT who did the job best, they’ll tell you El-Rufai. He built roads, yes, but he also listened,” she said.

Senator Kingibe criticized Wike for not engaging with the grassroots, mentioning issues like the relocation of abattoirs without first putting proper infrastructure or security in place at the new sites.
