Emir Sanusi Narate President Tinubu’s Role in His Reinstatement

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the new Emir of Kano, has revealed that President Bola Tinubu did not obstruct his reinstatement by the Kano State government. Sanusi explained that the President chose not to use federal power to intervene in the matter, ensuring that law and order were maintained in the state.

Sanusi was reinstated on Friday by Governor Abba Yusuf, following the signing of the new Kano Emirate Council Law 2024, which repealed the law enacted by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje.

In an interview with TVC, Sanusi noted that President Tinubu viewed the situation in Kano as a local issue and resisted any pressure to interfere. He said, “I was appointed the 14th Emir of the single emirate of Kano in June 2014, and now I have been reappointed. I would like to thank His Excellency Alhaji Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his principled stance of non-interference in the state’s internal affairs, which made this possible.

“The president has demonstrated respect for the constitution and the separation of powers, recognizing that this is a local matter. He has resisted all pressures to involve the federal government. This is a continuation of the service I started, and an opportunity to build on my previous tenure.”
