Ex-PDP Spokesman Demands PDP Ag Chairman, Umar Damagun’s Resignation to End Party Crisis

Kola Ologbondiyan, former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called for the resignation of the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagun. Ologbondiyan believes that Damagun’s departure from the role is crucial for addressing the ongoing internal conflicts within the party.

In a recent interview, Ologbondiyan argued that Damagun’s resignation would facilitate necessary reforms and help restore stability to the PDP. He highlighted that the call for Damagun’s resignation is supported by a faction within the party, including 60 PDP members of the House of Representatives, who have accused him of aligning with the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Ologbondiyan criticized Damagun for contributing to the party’s current crisis and stressed that for the PDP to regain its strength and effectively oppose the ruling party, Damagun should step down and return to his previous role as Deputy National Chairman, North.

As the spokesperson for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign during the 2023 election, Ologbondiyan emphasized the need for a new national chairman from the North-Central zone. He noted that this zone has been overlooked since the suspension of Iyorchia Ayu.

Ologbondiyan stated, “To achieve its objectives, the PDP must pursue justice and proper representation. Damagun’s continuation in the role of acting chairman, instead of allowing the North-Central zone to produce a substantive chairman, has exacerbated the party’s issues.”
