Fear Takes Over Kabba-Bunu as Residents Protest Rising Terror Attacks

Residents of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area in Kogi West Senatorial District took to the streets on Friday to protest the worsening security situation in their communities, urging authorities to act swiftly to halt the growing wave of terror attacks.
The peaceful protest drew a large turnout as community members voiced alarm over the rising presence of bandits in the area. Protesters claimed that several residents have been kidnapped in recent weeks, with many still being held in captivity.
According to the demonstrators, repeated attacks and the constant threat of abduction have forced families to flee their homes, leaving some villages partly or entirely deserted. They warned that the continued displacement of residents could trigger deeper social and humanitarian problems if left unaddressed.
“Our people can no longer sleep with their eyes closed. Fear has driven many out of their homes,” one protester said during the demonstration.
The residents called on both the Kogi State Government and the Federal Government to deploy stronger security measures to restore peace and protect lives and property in the affected communities.
The protest reflects increasing frustration across parts of Kogi State over persistent insecurity, particularly in rural areas. Locals insist they will continue to demand decisive action until safety is fully restored in Kabba-Bunu and other vulnerable communities within Kogi West.
