Federal Government Removes Pro-Chancellor of Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo

The Federal Government has dismissed Engr. Ohieku Muhammed Salami as the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, Benue State, following his breach of office conduct and failure to adhere to established protocols.
According to a statement from the Ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Boriowo Folasade, the decision comes after a series of unprofessional actions by Engr. Salami. These included suspending the Vice-Chancellor without following the required procedures. Despite the Federal Ministry of Education’s intervention and formal requests to reverse the unlawful suspension, Engr. Salami refused to comply and exhibited inappropriate and threatening behavior toward Ministry officials, including the Permanent Secretary.
Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, condemned such conduct, stating that it undermines the Ministry’s authority over the university and poses a threat to the institution’s governance and stability.
As part of the corrective action, the Minister has directed that a new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council be appointed immediately to ensure the university’s operations align with the principles of law, due process, and accountability.
The changes are effective immediately.
