A Federal High Court in Abuja has ruled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) must pay ₦1.12 billion as compensation to the family of Mike Madu, who tragically lost his life in an accident involving an INEC driver in Imo State.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, who delivered the judgment on Friday, also directed that the ₦1.12 billion be paid with an annual interest rate of 10%, starting from the date of the ruling until the full amount is settled.
The court further instructed INEC, its Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, and other involved parties to send an official letter of condolence to Madu’s family.
