Fridge Repairer Hangs Himself in Kwara After Stealing Motorcycle

A fridge repairer named Yunusa Abdullateef reportedly committed suicide after allegedly stealing a motorcycle in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State.

 

The incident took place on the Wednesday before last at Ita Ogunbo, in the Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara State.

 

According to a local resident, Mr. Abdul, Abdullateef allegedly took his own life out of shame after stealing a motorcycle in the community.

 

“After stealing the motorcycle, he went into hiding. The community was informed and launched a manhunt, eventually apprehending him,” Abdul said. “Some residents close to him mentioned that he felt the shame and social stigma would be unbearable.”

 

Abdul added that Abdullateef was later found hanging in his room.

 

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, confirmed the incident, stating, “The deceased was a fridge repairer accused of stealing a motorcycle. His body was found hanging in his room, and his family has since buried him according to Islamic rites.”
