From ADC to APC? Even a Mass Defection Won’t Save APC

From ADC to APC? Even a Mass Defection Won’t Save APC

This desperate move is yet another sign that the ruling party is fully aware of its deep unpopularity. Even if every governor in the country defected to the APC, it wouldn’t change the fact that the party is failing the people. Despite boasting a long list of governors and senators, the APC continues to seek relevance by courting members from other parties — especially from the ADC.

The reality is this: Nigerians have grown disillusioned with the APC. Years of hardship, economic mismanagement, and broken promises have left citizens worse off than before. No number of political cross-carpets can erase the damage.

As we’ve stated before, the wave of high-profile defections to the ruling party is not lost on ordinary Nigerians. They see it for what it is — a coordinated survival strategy by a political elite that has chosen self-interest over service, even as the people struggle in worsening poverty.

One has to ask: Has the APC run out of governors and political allies to poach that it now resorts to vague mentions of unnamed ADC members? If these so-called “key figures” exist, why not name them?

What we’re witnessing isn’t new. It’s the same power-hoarding tactics that the PDP once employed in its heyday — tactics that eventually led to its downfall.

The APC should take heed: true power in a democracy resides with the people, not in backroom deals or mass defections. When the time comes, the people will make their voices heard.
