FRSC Unveils Mobile App to Improve Road Safety

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has introduced a new mobile app and the National Crash Reporting Information System (NACRIS) to tackle road traffic accidents and enhance road safety nationwide.
At the launch event in Abuja on Thursday, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, praised the initiative as a significant milestone for the FRSC. He highlighted that the app and NACRIS are part of the corps’ digital transformation efforts aimed at improving management and fulfilling its mission.
Akume noted that the new tools are designed to increase awareness and educate drivers and passengers about the causes of road traffic accidents. He pointed out that in 2023, there were 5,081 fatalities and 31,874 injuries due to road accidents. In the first half of 2024, 2,776 people were killed, and 16,309 were injured in similar incidents.
He lauded the FRSC’s alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda, which emphasizes digital transformation and economic growth.
FRSC Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed also highlighted that the FRSC has been actively working on policies to enhance road safety and administration.
