Fubara Accuses Political Opponents of Targeting His Supporters

Rivers State Governor, Fubara
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has accused his political rivals of orchestrating a campaign of persecution against his supporters, including prominent traditional rulers and key officials, in a bid to destabilize his administration.
Speaking at the commissioning of the newly remodeled Government Girls’ Secondary School in Ahoada East on Friday, Governor Fubara claimed that His Royal Majesty, Eze Ekpeye Logbo Kevin Anugbom, and High Chief Cassid Ikebidi were arrested and held for four months due to their support for his leadership. He further alleged that his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, was unjustly declared wanted by the Nigerian Police Force as part of an effort to diminish his influence in the state.
Fubara called on Rivers State residents to pray for his administration, particularly for the timely availability of funds to complete ongoing projects. He reassured the people of his unwavering commitment to good governance despite the challenges posed by these political attacks.
Acknowledging the significant contributions of Eze Ekpeye Logbo, the governor revealed plans to enhance the traditional leadership structure in the region. He also addressed concerns about the state of internal roads in Ahoada East, announcing that a previously awarded contract would be cancelled and re-issued to ensure quality execution.
The governor expressed deep appreciation to the people of Ahoada for their steadfast support, urging them to remain cautious and avoid actions that could provoke political adversaries.
The arrests of Eze Ekpeye Logbo Kevin Anugbom and High Chief Cassid Ikebidi were linked to the tragic killing of the Divisional Police Officer for Ahoada East, Superintendent Bako Angbashim, in September 2023. Additionally, Edison Ehie, along with others, was declared wanted by the police in connection with the explosion at the Rivers State House of Assembly on October 29, 2023.
