Future Leaders Yet to Arise: Joe Igbokwe

Joe Igbokwe, a dedicated supporter of President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed the belief that the individuals capable of saving Nigeria have yet to be born.

Igbokwe, who played an active role in Tinubu’s election campaign, made this statement while addressing the ongoing cost of living crisis.

In a Facebook post, he highlighted the alarming price of rice, stating, “My wife informed me that a bag of rice now costs over ₦100,000. Despite the number of rice mills in Nigeria, we’re facing this dire situation. I firmly believe that the leaders who will alleviate this nation’s self-inflicted suffering are not yet here.”

Recently, Igbokwe, who has worked with nearly all Lagos governors since 1999, has voiced concerns over some policies implemented by the Tinubu administration, indicating a shift from his previous stance.

Just two weeks ago, he criticized the increase in electricity tariffs, urging the President to address the issue.

In another Facebook post three weeks prior, he shared his frustration over rising electricity costs, noting that ₦20,000 worth of units lasted only a single day. He urged Tinubu to take immediate action, saying, “With my small office in Surulere operating seven air conditioners, we previously bought over 300 units for ₦20,000. Now, that same amount only provides power for a day. This situation needs urgent review to protect businesses.”
