Garba Shehu: No Tension Between Tinubu and Buhari

Garba Shehu, former spokesperson to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has refuted claims suggesting any friction between Buhari and his successor, President Bola Tinubu.

During an appearance on Trust TV’s 30 Minutes program on Monday, Shehu emphasized that both leaders remain committed members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and have not experienced any formal dispute.
“Everyone is entitled to their personal opinions,” Shehu said. “But in terms of official relations, there’s no conflict or mistrust between President Tinubu and former President Buhari.”
He reaffirmed Buhari’s loyalty to the APC, the party that propelled him to victory after three failed presidential bids. “Buhari has always maintained that he will not turn his back on the party that gave him the opportunity to serve two terms,” Shehu noted.
Addressing speculation that Buhari’s political circle is unsettled by current party dynamics, Shehu downplayed the concerns. “We see these kinds of comments in the media. Are we worried? I wouldn’t say that,” he remarked.
Reflecting on the formation of the APC in 2014, Shehu said those who contributed to its foundation are unlikely to jeopardize its future.
“It required dedication, unity, and significant sacrifice to form the APC. After several attempts, opposition groups came together and achieved success. Those who were part of that historic moment understand its value and wouldn’t act to dismantle what they helped build,” he concluded.
