The Nigerian government has finalized plans to distribute ₦75,000 in cash to 70 million Nigerians as part of its efforts to alleviate the economic hardships currently facing the nation.

Hon. Aliyu Audu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, made this announcement on Sunday, highlighting that the initiative is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration’s commitment to combating poverty and improving the welfare of Nigerians.

Audu, who is also a key member of the APC National Stakeholders Forum and APC Rebirth Movement, noted that President Tinubu has demonstrated a strong record of achievement in just 19 months in office. He emphasized that the administration’s policies have already produced tangible outcomes, both domestically and internationally, including a notable increase in foreign investments.

He further highlighted that Nigeria’s foreign reserves have seen a significant boost, rising by 23% in one year, with an additional $7.69 billion entering the country due to the effective fiscal and monetary measures implemented by the Central Bank of Nigeria and the federal government.

Audu pointed out that President Tinubu’s policies have also led to improved fiscal earnings, largely from non-oil sectors and enhanced oil production. Additionally, state and local governments have benefitted from substantial increases in federation allocations, which have supported better payments to local contractors and contributed to a reduction in food prices, aided by improved security that allows farmers better access to their fields.

Furthermore, Audu praised the government for its initiatives to revitalize agriculture, including the distribution of 255 tractors aimed at mechanizing farming and boosting food production. He noted that food surpluses are expected to follow, benefitting both farmers and consumers.

In closing, Audu commended the successful repatriation of $52.88 million in looted funds from the United States, underscoring the government’s commitment to tackling corruption. He urged APC supporters to engage more Nigerians this year, promoting President Tinubu’s people-centered policies as he nears the two-year mark of his presidency in May 2025.
