Group Urges Immediate Dismissal of Power Minister; Give Reasons

A coalition known as the Nigerian Youth Treaty for Good Governance (NYTGG) is demanding the removal of Adebayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power, along with Sule Ahmed Abdulaziz, the Managing Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN). This call comes in response to ongoing power grid failures and distribution issues.
In a statement released in Kaduna, Abdullahi Sani, the group’s chairman, highlighted how the continuing struggles within the power sector are negatively affecting the government’s reputation and causing significant hardship for citizens. He noted, “Many households remain without power, businesses are incurring heavy losses, and the nation’s economic progress is being stunted by the failures in energy supply. As we aim to elevate Nigeria among the world’s top economies, we cannot overlook the serious consequences of the current leadership in the power sector.”
Sani pointed out that since President Tinubu took office, Nigeria has witnessed an alarming frequency of power system collapses, resulting in extensive blackouts nationwide.
The group is urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to consider removing Adebayo Adelabu during the upcoming cabinet reshuffle, emphasizing that the persistent failures in the power sector require urgent and decisive action from the government’s highest echelons.
