Gunfire on Set, As Broda Shaggy Shot While Filming in Ogun, police Authorities Launch Probe

The Ogun State Police Command has opened an inquiry into the reported shooting of popular skit maker and social media personality, Samuel Perry, in the Sango-Ota area. The incident reportedly occurred last Sunday while Broda Shaggy was filming a comedy skit under the Sango-Ota bridge, according to PUNCH Online.
While the details of how the shooting occurred remain unclear, an anonymous police source confirmed that the influencer sustained a gunshot injury during the episode. The Ogun State Police, however, said it could not yet verify whether the incident took place within the state’s boundaries.
In a statement to the press, the command’s spokesman, Oluseyi Babaseyi, urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information while the investigation is ongoing. “For the sake of clarity, the command cannot confirm that Broda Shaggy was shot anywhere within Ogun State. Investigation into the matter has, however, commenced. Members of the public are kindly advised to refrain from spreading unverified information and allow the investigation to run its course,” the statement read.
Sources familiar with the incident told The Guardian Nigeria that Broda Shaggy was initially rushed to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos, where he received immediate medical attention. He was later referred to Duchess Hospital in the Government Residential Area, Ikeja, where he is currently recuperating.
The Lagos State Police Command, through its spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the police were alerted by hospital officials regarding a gunshot victim. “Detectives and a patrol team were immediately mobilised to the hospital, where they discovered that the victim was Broda Shaggy. He was seen on a stretcher with an injury to his thigh. The location of the incident is in Sango-Ota and not within our jurisdiction, but the investigation is ongoing,” Adebisi said, as reported by The Nation Nigeria.
Efforts to reach Broda Shaggy’s manager, Olufemi Oguntamu, also known as Penzaar, were unsuccessful. He had indicated he was busy and promised to provide updates later.
The incident has sparked concern among fans and online followers, with calls for security agencies to swiftly unravel the circumstances surrounding the shooting and ensure the safety of content creators in the region.
According to analysts, the event highlights ongoing security challenges in parts of Ogun State, particularly in areas frequented by public personalities during outdoor shoots.
