Gunmen Ambush Benue Links Bus, Kidnap Passengers in Okpokwu

On the evening of June 22, 2025, a Benue Links commercial bus with registration number 14B-143BN fell victim to an attack by unknown gunmen in the Eke area of Okpokwu Local Government, Benue State.

Eyewitness reports indicate that the incident occurred at approximately 6:30 p.m. The bus, carrying multiple passengers, was intercepted by armed assailants who reportedly robbed the travelers of their belongings before forcibly taking them into the surrounding bushland.

Comrade Austin Agada, who happened to be nearby at the time, quickly responded by alerting security forces. He helped mobilize both military and police units to the scene and also reached out to local vigilantes and youth groups from three neighboring villages. These groups were tasked with assisting in surveillance and searching the area for the missing passengers.

In a coordinated effort, details about the attack and the responding security personnel were shared with a Benue Links official to support ongoing rescue operations.
