Gunmen Kidnap Fubara in Rivers
By Okafor Ofiebor

The Rivers State Police Command’s Tactical and Anti-Kidnapping units have initiated a search for the individuals who kidnapped Aribibia John Fubara, a Director with the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service, in Port Harcourt.
Reports indicate that on the evening of August 24, 2024, around 8:20 p.m., a group of approximately six gunmen arrived via a speedboat at Okrika Waterfront, near Marine Base, Port Harcourt. The assailants fired shots into the air to create chaos before seizing their target. They then forcibly took Fubara into their boat and departed to an undisclosed location.
Fubara, who is also a Knight of Saint Christopher in the Anglican Communion, was untraceable at the time of this report. His kidnappers have yet to make contact, but his younger brother, Emmanuel Fubara, confirmed the abduction and reported it to the police.
Rivers State Police spokesperson SP Grace Iringe-Koko stated, “The command is aware of the situation. Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has instructed the tactical units to ensure the safe return of the victim. We have launched a manhunt to apprehend those responsible and hold them accountable.”
