High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, Husband of Senator Natasha Akpoti, Breaks Silence
High Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, Alema of Warri Kingdom and husband of Senator Natasha Akpoti, has addressed the ongoing matter involving his wife and the Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Initially, I had chosen to stay silent on the matter between my dear wife, Senator Natasha H. Akpoti-Uduaghan, and the Senate President. However, recent events have prompted me to speak out. It seems that certain emotions are being stirred unnecessarily, which detracts from the serious nature of the concerns at hand—issues that should worry anyone who values integrity and sound family principles.
While respecting the ongoing legal processes, it is important to note that my wife’s election was the result of the unwavering support, trust, and admiration from her people. She remains dedicated to offering exceptional service to her constituency and the nation. As a devoted spouse, our bond is one of mutual respect and love. Throughout our journey, she has remained steadfast in her principles, even amid challenges.
My wife has confided in me about her experiences with the Senate President, someone I considered a personal friend. I approached this matter with maturity and a sense of responsibility, upholding my role as a traditional leader who deeply respects authority and values family unity. I personally engaged with the Senate President, asking him to treat my wife with the courtesy and respect she is entitled to, while also maintaining the friendship we once shared. We reached an agreement to handle the matter amicably.
Yet, despite this understanding, my wife continues to raise concerns about the harassment she has faced from the Senate President.
I have complete faith in my wife’s loyalty and integrity, and our marriage remains rooted in love, respect, and compassion. She is the greatest joy of my life, and I will always stand by her.
I now respectfully call upon the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, along with the Senate President, to accord my wife the respect and dignity she deserves while the relevant authorities and courts address the matter at hand.
