How 80 Suspected Internet Fraudsters were Arrested in Edo and Kwara States

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended around 80 individuals suspected of involvement in internet fraud across Kwara and Edo states. The arrests occurred on Wednesday during coordinated sting operations conducted by the agency.
In Kwara State, acting on reliable intelligence regarding the suspects’ activities in the Offa area, the EFCC raided their hideouts, resulting in the capture of 55 individuals. The operation yielded significant evidence, including nine luxury vehicles, two motorcycles, laptops, smartphones, and various charms. The suspects are set to face prosecution once the investigation wraps up.
A similar operation in Benin City, Edo State, led to the arrest of 25 individuals at various locations. These suspects were also taken into custody based on credible information about their alleged involvement in internet-related fraud. Items seized from them included eight luxury cars, laptops, and mobile phones. They, too, will be charged in court after the completion of ongoing investigations.
