How Five Gunmen Kidnapped Doctor Outside His Delta Clinic
A medical doctor, Dr. Donatus Nwasor, was abducted by five armed men outside his health clinic in Utagba-Uno, Ndokwa West Local Government Area, Delta State, on Tuesday evening.
The abduction occurred around 8:15 p.m., according to a community source who spoke on condition of anonymity. The source revealed that the incident unfolded shortly after Dr. Nwasor had finished his workday and was preparing to leave the clinic.
As Dr. Nwasor started his car, he received a phone call. Stepping out of the vehicle to take the call, he was suddenly ambushed by five gunmen who emerged from a nearby bush. The men overpowered him, forced him back into the car, and drove off. The source added that one of the kidnappers lost a rubber sandal in the process. The kidnappers fled towards the Ugiliamai/Iselegu area.
The source continued, stating that further inquiries led to a tip-off from someone traveling along the Iselegu junction, who spotted Dr. Nwasor’s car abandoned by the roadside near the Asaba expressway. This prompted an investigation by the local anti-cult group in Utagba-Uno, led by Mr. Ugobueze, who, along with members of the Utagba-Uno Inotu-In-Council, went to the scene. They confirmed that the car, with its doors wide open, belonged to the missing doctor.
The community source added that a search in the nearby bush yielded no further clues, except for a signpost near Obi-Ukpo in Onicha-Ukwuani. Concerned family members and the Kwale Division of the Nigeria Police have been notified of the abduction.
Confirming the incident on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State, SP Bright Edafe, stated, “Yes, it is confirmed.” The police are continuing their investigation into the abduction.
