How Four-Man Car Theft Syndicate Busted in Lagos, Vehicles Recovered
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Kazeem Ahmed, a man who specialized in using fabricated master keys to steal vehicles in the Ikorodu area. Alongside him, three others—Ethel Ohamadike, Young Eze (31), and Chukwuwando Okoye (38)—were arrested for purchasing the stolen vehicles.
Sources revealed that Ahmed targeted vehicles parked outside residential premises and sold them to auto parts dealers in the Ladipo market. These dealers would then dismantle the vehicles and sell the parts to unsuspecting customers.
An anonymous source disclosed that Ahmed’s criminal activities were reported to the police by someone who had been observing his suspicious behavior. This led to Ahmed’s arrest at Lucky Fiber, where the police also recovered a vehicle and the tools he used for the thefts.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrests and the subsequent investigation that extended to the Ladipo market. Following Ahmed’s capture, the police arrested Ethel Ohamadike, who bought and sold the stolen vehicles. Further investigation led to the arrests of Young Eze and Chukwuwando Okoye at another plaza within the same market, resulting in the recovery of two Toyota Camry saloon cars.
Hundeyin stated, “Information was received from a good citizen about the nefarious act of one Kazeem Ahmed, 42, who specializes in removing vehicles from where they were parked with different fabricated master keys. Based on this information, operatives of the Lagos State Command investigated and arrested the suspect at the Lucky Fiber area of Ikorodu, Lagos, and one Toyota Camry saloon car was recovered from him.”
He continued, “Investigations led police operatives to the Ladipo auto parts market, where one Ethel Ohamadike, who bought and sold the stolen cars, was also arrested. Further investigation led to the arrest of two other individuals, Young Eze and Chukwuwando Okoye, from the same market. Two additional Toyota Camry saloon cars were recovered. All the suspects and exhibits are in police custody while the investigation
continues.”
