How Hunters Uncover Kidnappers’ Hideout in Anambra-West, Recover Vehicle and Weapons
The Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service (NHFSS) Anambra State Command recently dismantled a kidnappers’ hideout in the Anam forest, located in the Anambra-West Local Government Area.
Deputy Commander-General of the NHFSS (Technical Services), Ambassador Dr. John Metchie, reported that the operation took place on the afternoon of May 31, 2024. Acting on intelligence, officers D.O. Odanike and Ojukwu led a team deep into the forest.
The NHFSS officers discovered an abandoned Toyota Sienna and an array of weapons, including a pistol, an AK-47 rifle, locally made guns, assorted vehicle license plates, charms, and other incriminating items.
Dr. Metchie expressed gratitude to D.O. Odanike, Ojukwu, and the other officers involved in the operation. He emphasized the crucial role hunters play in national security and urged the Nigerian government to recognize their contributions.
He also praised the efforts of ACG Mark Okemefuna Okonkwo, the Southeast Commander of the NHFSS, for his dedication to ensuring that officers in the zone perform their duties with professionalism and diligence.
Additionally, Dr. Metchie commended Dr. Joshua Osatimehin, the Commander-General of the NHFSS, for his leadership and recent visit to Anambra State, where he honored Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s wife with the prestigious title of Patroness of the NHFSS.
The NHFSS officers are continuing their search for the suspected kidnappers who abandoned the vehicle and other items in the forest. The recovered vehicle and items have been handed over to the Area Command of the Nigeria Police for further investigation.
