How Man is Killed, Hand Cut Off As Rival Cults Clash In Ogun

A middle-aged man known as Mosquito was killed by suspected cult members in Ijagun, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State. The victim, reportedly affiliated with the Aye confraternity, was found dead with gunshot wounds and his left hand severed.

 

The Ogun State Police Command issued a statement on Monday revealing that officers were alerted around 11:40 PM on August 11, 2024, about a cult-related confrontation on Ijagun Road. When police arrived, they discovered the body and six spent cartridges at the scene.

 

The statement detailed: “A distress call reported a cult clash, prompting the Divisional Police Officer to dispatch a team. Upon inspection, officers found a middle-aged man with severe machete and gunshot wounds, and his left hand missing. The deceased was identified as ‘Mosquito,’ a member of the Aye confraternity. The body was later taken to Ijebu Ode State Hospital where he was pronounced dead.”

 

This incident marks one of three recent killings in Ogun State linked to cult violence, according to FIRST CLASS GISTS.
