How Over 2,000 Motorcyclists Receive Free Fuel from Innocent Udoidiong Foundation in Akwa Ibom

In a commendable act of philanthropy, Innocent Udoidiong, a UK-based scholar and founder of the Innocent Udoidiong Foundation, has provided free fuel to more than 2,000 commercial motorcycle riders across various communities in Akwa Ibom State. This gesture is aimed at alleviating the financial burden caused by the recent fuel subsidy removal, which has significantly impacted the cost of living in Nigeria.
The donation was announced in a statement by the Foundation’s National Coordinator, Mr. Joseph Ekpo, on Tuesday in Uyo. Ekpo, accompanied by the Foundation’s media officer Tony Esin, led a team that visited communities including Utu Ikot Umonde and Urua Inyang in Eka Local Government Area, where they distributed fuel to the beneficiaries.
In Etim Ekpo Local Government Area, motorcyclists gathered at a fuel station in Old Obo Market Square, eagerly filling their tanks. In a heartfelt address at Ikot Udobong in Ukanafun Local Government Area, Ekpo, who spoke on behalf of Udoidiong, urged the recipients to show gratitude by reducing transport fares in their communities.
Ekpo explained that the donation was made to assist local residents in coping with the growing economic challenges. He emphasized that the Foundation’s mission is to support vulnerable communities and provide relief during times of hardship. He stated, “The Innocent Udoidiong Foundation was founded in 2021 with the aim of fostering positive change and sustainable development, especially in areas that face economic difficulties. Today, we are here to help ease the burden caused by rising fuel costs. We encourage you to pass on this kindness by lowering your fares.”
This charitable act is a testament to Mr. Udoidiong’s commitment to supporting his home state and improving the lives of its residents. The beneficiaries, who received fuel in both their tanks and containers, expressed heartfelt gratitude and offered prayers for the donor’s continued success.
Ediomo Udombong, the President of the Physically Challenged Persons Association in Ika, expressed deep appreciation on behalf of the recipients, saying, “On behalf of everyone benefiting from this kind gesture, I want to thank Mr. Udoidiong. Times have been tough for us, and this gesture is truly a blessing. We will continue to pray for him as we use this fuel to sustain our businesses.”
Another recipient, Odudu Isaiah Philip, shared his joy and admiration for Udoidiong, remarking, “I am particularly moved because Mr. Udoidiong is not a politician, but an individual who cares for his community. Unlike many politicians who rarely show such appreciation, Mr. Udoidiong’s actions speak volumes.”
Echoing similar sentiments, Ekpedeme Isaac Akpan from Ikot Udobong expressed his gratitude, saying, “This gesture will not be forgotten. It has come at a crucial time, and we are truly grateful. We pray that God continues to bless Mr. Udoidiong for his generosity, as this will greatly help us take care of our families.”
Through this initiative, the Innocent Udoidiong Foundation continues to play a pivotal role in supporting the welfare of vulnerable communities, demonstrating that even in times of crisis, acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.
