How Suspected Woman arms supplier hides AK-47 in bag of garri

A 30-year-old woman, Hauwa Yusuf, has been apprehended by the Special Tactical Squad for hiding an AK-47 rifle and four magazines inside a sack of garri. Yusuf was detained along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway during a routine stop-and-search operation.
Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi revealed the arrest on Friday at the STS Headquarters in Abuja. Yusuf admitted that she was tasked by Aminu Basullube, a notorious bandit operating in Katsina State, to transport the firearms from Danum Madam Camp in Katsina State.
Adejobi detailed, “On August 14, 2024, following intelligence, our operatives intercepted Hauwa Yusuf, a resident of Dutsin-Ma LGA in Katsina State. She was traveling from Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Katsina State in a Sienna Bus when she was stopped along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway. A search revealed the AK-47 rifle, which had no serial number, and four AK magazines hidden inside a white sack of garri.”
During questioning, Yusuf claimed ignorance about the contents of the sack. “I was instructed to bring millet, but garri was provided instead. I had no idea a gun was concealed inside,” she stated.
Adejobi also noted that a separate team from the FID-STS had been dispatched to Igbowo in Oyo State on April 29 to investigate the activities of Musa Saidu.
