How Vigilante Leader was Killed in Kano

Mukhtar Garba Baballiya, the leader of a vigilante group in Ja’en community, Gwale Local Government Area of Kano, was murdered on Tuesday night. Baballiya was reportedly stabbed while attempting to mediate a dispute between thugs from Ja’en Makera and Ja’en Unguwar Lalle.
He was immediately taken to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano, where he was pronounced dead.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed the incident and announced that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the killing. Kiyawa urged residents to report any threats to the police, assuring them that an investigation is ongoing.
The ancient city has seen an increase in clashes among thugs, particularly in areas such as Dorayi and Dala. A recent altercation in Darmanawa quarters resulted in the deaths of three individuals.
