I Have Never Seen Poverty Like This – Sowore Blasts Tinubu’s Economic Management

Human rights advocate Omoyele Sowore has expressed deep concern over the worsening economic conditions in Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Sowore pointed out the growing hunger and widespread infrastructural neglect as clear signs of the government’s failure to effectively channel the funds saved from the fuel subsidy removal into meaningful economic improvements.
In an interview with Channels TV on Thursday, Sowore criticized the mismanagement of the nation’s resources, stating, “This is not just what people want to hear; it’s the reality. A year ago, when this administration took power, the first major decision they made was to remove the fuel subsidy, with promises that the savings would be reinvested to better manage the economy and drive prosperity and development.”
He added, “However, there is no evidence of these promises being fulfilled anywhere in the country. I recently returned from my home state, Ondo, and the state of the roads is the worst I’ve seen in a long time. The level of poverty now is unprecedented.”
