ICPC Detains El-Rufai’s Former Finance Commissioner at Lagos Airport
Shizzer Joy Nasara Bada, the former Finance Commissioner and Accountant General of Kaduna State during Nasir el-Rufai’s tenure, was apprehended by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) at Lagos airport on Sunday.

Bada was reportedly trying to leave the country, raising suspicions of an attempt to evade ongoing corruption investigations. The ICPC had been tracking her movements after receiving intelligence indicating she might flee to avoid scrutiny.

Her arrest is part of a wider crackdown on officials from el-Rufai’s administration, with several individuals now facing investigation for alleged financial misconduct. El-Rufai himself has been accused by the Kaduna State House of Assembly of misappropriating N423 billion from the state’s funds.
While specific details regarding Bada’s allegations have not been made public, they are believed to involve serious financial irregularities and embezzlement. The ongoing investigation is anticipated to shed light on the depth of corruption within the former governor’s administration.
